If you live in New York, where to be Monday
Ashtanga Yoga New York is celebrating Guru Purnima on Monday night, honoring the Guru as well as Pattabhi Jois, in particular.
Here are the details (yes, from a Facebook posting); if you are in New York, or near enough, you’ll go, right? You really don’t have a good excuse: Tuesday is a Moon Day. (If you know of other similar events, you can post them in the comments, happily meeting our “resource” mission.)
Guru Purnima, Monday, July 2nd, 5-9 pm
On Monday, July 2nd we will be celebrating the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, the full moon day festival of July when the Guru is honored, and also the birthday of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. We will construct a Guru altar for the occasion, and invite you to bring a photo of your Guru for the worship and thanksgiving that is expressed on this auspicious day – to our teachers, and lineages, that have awakened knowledge and devotion in our minds and hearts.
