Tuesday with Timji from Tuscany

OK, a nice alliterative headline, but Tim Miller doesn’t mention Tuscany — where he is doing a retreat — in today’s blog post.

A quick excerpt to get you interested:

As an addendum to last week’s post regarding the celebration of the Dassera Festival in Mysore which concludes on Thursday October 6th, I have a couple of vivid recollections of my first Dassera celebration in 1990.  The day before the big procession that marks the end of Dassera is called Ayudha Puja.  It is a day when all the tools and vehicles that Indian people use to make their livelihoods are worshipped.  All of the buses, trucks, cars, autorickshaws, and bicycles are decorated with flowers and banana leaves and special pujas are done for the tools of their trade.  Guruji closed the yoga shala on that day and did a special puja in the yoga room.
