Roots of Yoga project almost to its goal — now’s your time to act

As of a little after midnight GMT — 5 p.m. here in Los Angeles — the Roots of Yoga kickstarter project we talked about is very, very close to its $50,000 goal.

With 40 hours to go — as of this moment — the project is at $48,218. That’s less than two days to raise less than $1,200.

It’s close, and that may seem like a lock — but only if you step up, if you haven’t yet but were planning to do so. Now’s the moment. Don’t you want to be the person who pushes the project over the finish line?

As a reminder, here’s what the project is all about:

We (Mark Singleton and James Mallinson) are putting together a new sourcebook of yoga texts from the Indian traditions. Entitled Roots of Yoga, the book will make available for the first time in a single volume many of the most important primary texts of yoga through the ages. All the translations will be our own and many will be from texts not previously translated. Roots of Yoga will be arranged thematically and highlight the major historical moments of yoga’s evolution within the Indian subcontinent (from about 500BCE to 1750CE), showing the continuities, disjunctions and developments that have characterized its theory and practice across the centuries.

We’re happy to say we stepped up and pledged some money. Why not do the same? We know money always is tight, so part with what you can, if you can.
