A one image response to the shooting in Newtown

Our friend, and fellow traveler on our yatra, Michelle Haymoz, is already in India, where she has been taking photographs and practicing yoga.

The below photo is one she posted earlier today, before the shootings in Newtown, Ct. occurred. Michelle was allowed access to a day care school for special education students in Mysore, where, she says, the students practice yoga three days a week. The images are doubly moving because of today’s events.

We think this image, in particular, captures the innocence of children, an innocence that was attacked so horribly today.

You can see more of Michelle’s photos here, and can click here to see previous posts we’ve had about her.

Our thoughts and wishes for strength and solace go to all those affected by today’s shootings.

  1. I just heard about the shootings myself from a friend in US and its just heartbreak when such things happen especially when the season is that of celebrating in the midst of a cold winter season.

  2. Thanks for that image — bookended by the terrible irony that the shooter’s home in Sandy Hook was at 36 Yogananda Street.
