Yoga book by Sharath coming?

You may have seen on the ubiquitious Facebook a cover of a book that, supposedly, is by Sharath — as well as some of his students.

Here’s the image:

The only other background I see is from a blog post by Yoga Mama a few weeks ago. From it:

So Sharath has written a new Ashtanga yoga book  (with the help of a couple of his students, whose names I didn’t catch). As far as I am aware, this is his first book.

He told us about this in the conference yesterday and even made light of some of the then/ now photographs of himself contained in the book. I also believe he said it contained some health related asana -but this could be a “lost in translation” on my part.

It might be coming out any time now. (I saw on Facebook that David Robson says his shala in Toronto will be getting 50 copies.) I don’t see anything at the Jois Yoga website or elsewhere on how or whether one can order it.

Stay tuned, I guess.

Update: Yoga Mama says in a Tweet that she’s heard (from Mysore) it has sold out already. That may explain the lack of/no need for marketing.

  1. Kino MacGregor also mentioned it… as far as I heared it’s only to be sold in Mysore, except when some yoga studio (like David Robsons’) takes a few with it home… but sadly I don’t think it will be available on the internet 😦

  2. It sold out initially as there had been a problem with the printers and the shala shop had only received a few copies. A new batch of books arrived yesterday though (however there was a flood of students rushing into the shala to buy it – much like before Friday led class if you’ve seen the video of that…) so I don’t know how many books were left after that. Sharat is also working on making it available on-line at a later stage. If you’re here in Mysore it’s probably available to buy now or you’ll just have to practice patience.
