Mid-80s video of Guruji leading Advanced A class

This one’s a few days old, but I’ve been mostly away from the Interweb thanks to work travel. (Side note: It is nice to detox, right?)

It is a video from 1985, posted by Kristina Ireland Karitinou and apparently found in the records of Derek Ireland:

We had a little bit on Ireland’s introduction to Ashtanga a while back.

And, after posting about the good and bad of happening upon a mirror during practice, I can say this video continues to keep me firmly in my place. Although I’m always glad to see looks on students’ faces after Guruji adjusts them that seem like the look I have on my face. (Another of the familiar themes to Ashtanga.)

Update: Apparently, the video is circa 1985, shot in Hawaii.
