108 Sun Salutes for a good cause

If by chance you’re going to be down in the San Diego area on Dec. 20, here’s something to consider squeezing into your schedule: the eighth annual 108 solstice sun salutes at the Ashtanga Yoga Center. All the proceeds go to the Sean O’Shea Foundation. Cost is $25. It begins at 2 p.m., with check-in starting at 1:30 p.m.

You can get more info and sign up at this link.

As a reminder, here’s a little about the Sean O’Shea Foundation:

Sean O’Shea was an advocate for social justice, equal rights and passionate about teaching yoga, patience, and acceptance for all. He believed in empowering children through these practices so that they may find mindful ways to cope with the challenges and stresses within their lives. Today, we honor Sean’s good life by continuing his vision of teaching the youth in our communities yoga, nutrition, respect for earth, respect for themselves and others, and to have confidence in their own potential.

And a video:

Two of the teachers leading the event, Holly Gastil and Peter Hurley, we know well — so we can say you’ll be in really good hands if you decide to give it a go.
